The man before you is seated at a desk staring intently at a large scroll spread upon the it, writing out some occasional notes on a smaller scroll beside him. Noticing you presence the man looks up from his studies to catch your appraising gaze. Rolling up the scrolls he begins to address you, “You must be thinking that it is menial work that keeps the Ablaq’et and architects busy.”

Rising from his seat, the man shakes his head, a sardonic grin now upon his lips. “I will inform you that this is not the case.” Gesturing to his surroundings he draws your eyes to the many objects that fill the room. All around you various weapons of war and tools of crafting hang from the walls, while the floor is piled high with scroll and tomes. “Work here is not so simple as reading and writing, you must have experience with what you work with as well, and here we work with most everything.”

Lifting a small model tower from amongst the models positioned on a nearby table, the man turns it around fondly in hands, examining its exquisite details. “Of course we are architects here; raising great works to further Set’s glory and tightly grasp his lands. But these are no ordinary feats; they require a great deal of planning and organization. To that end we must work with many of the Spheres from the Military where we plan, build, and test our defenses, to the Scribe which we organize and gather our resources.”

Glancing upwards, at the intricate carving and designs of the ceiling the man nods to himself, genuinely smiling now. “Not everyone can appreciate the greatness and power that a structure can have. Or all the hard work and planning that goes into it.” Shrugging he begins to walk back to his desk.

Ignoring the fact that it was he himself that started the conversation and did not allow you a word edgewise, the man raises his chin in a dismissive gesture. “You have taken up too much of my time, I must return to my task.” Regaining his seat he watches as you turn to leave. You hear the scratching of his quill resume before briefly stopping and he again address you as you walk away. “If you are interested in greatness you must gain some knowledge of your own, not everything can be learned from books…”
